The Rise of the Octangle (The Legends of DOW) qxz

Four owls—Brad, Erith, Fala, and Rose—and four dragons—Spark, Dawn, Chomp, and Ruby—must unite as a group called the Octangle. Some are incredibly smart, some are good fighters, some are strong leaders, some are extremely kind, and they all must combine their strengths to succeed on a challenging rescue mission. The Octangle lives in a time of unrest in the kingdom of DOW (Dragons, Owls, Wolves). The queens are rebelling against the kings. The kings kidnap young owls and dragons. Brad and the rest of the Octangle are sent on a mission to save Mel and the young siblings of two other Octangle members. To save these young prisoners, they have to cross a furious river—twice—that nobody has been able to fly over in centuries, and also attack two palaces. Their greatest challenge, though, will be to learn to trust one another. There is an outcast, and Brad suspects a possible traitor. Brad must figure out what it means to be part of the Octangle and decide who he is going to trust, for if he puts his trust in the wrong owl or dragon, he may never get Mel back.
